Our mission
Sedes Sapientiæ was founded to rejuvinate the classical model of education that has been instrumental in the establishment of western civilization. The excellence of classical education is rooted in the integration of the seven liberal arts (the trivium and the quadrivium) as a conduit through which students discover the truth, the goodness, and the beauty of God's creation.
Sedes Sapientiæ promotes classical education within a contemporary context because "learning is something that engages the entire person" (Erasmus, De Pueris Instituendis, 1529) and because we believe that it is as relevant now as it was in the 16th century, when Erasmus wrote:
"The liberal arts, philosophy, and oratory are learned to the end that we may know Christ, that we may celebrate the glory of Christ. This is the whole scope of learning and eloquence." (Ciceronianus, 1528)
